Well-worn 25" cut riding mower that I traded for.

DrivetrainStock. Blade drive pulley was changed to keep cutting speed the same. Perm motor on 48V runs at 2300 rpm versus stock engine at 3500rpm.
Controller
Two SW-80 contactors are used. The starting contactor is in series with (2) paralleled 2-ohm resistors to limit inrush. Then the run contactor can be switched.

I measured the killowatt-hours to recharge the battery using a Brand Electronics meter. Less than 2.5 KWh for my 1/4 acre lot, which takes about an hour to finish. That's less than $0.25 per cut.
