Vehicle	1977 Bicycle with Yamaha starter This is a commuter style bike converted to electric assist.
Motor	Yamaha Series Wound DC XS 650 Yamaha motorcycle starter.
Drivetrain	Using a 12 volt Yamaha XS650 motorcycle starter motor. It drives through a BMX type freewheel sprocket.
Controller	It is using a solenoid switch and rocker button.
Batteries	1, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Gel Just uses one 12 volt gel battery around 30 ah or more.
System Voltage	12 Volts
Charger	Uses a regular auto charger.
DC/DC Converter	none needed
Instrumentation	Battery- headlight, tail light, brake light, horn and rear signals.
Top Speed	20 MPH (32 KPH) Pulls okay on level ground but needs pedaling for any inclines.
Acceleration	Weak unless pedaling to assist the motor.
Range	2 Miles ( 3 Kilometers) Goes farther on higher amp battery but weight is a factor.
Seating Capacity	1 adult
Curb Weight	0 Bike plus about 30 lbs.

Conversion Time	Casual work over the winter months.
Conversion Cost	Motor off ebay: $20 had to rebuild. Switches, solenoid, wiring $20 Clamps and brackets $10 Sprockets $30 All together about 100 dollars.
Additional Features	Runs quite smooth with chain drive and BMX freewheel. Can still be pedaled as usual for assistance. Currently changing over to smaller wheels for lower gearing. No vibration using rubber mounting on rear carrier.
