Right now using 12V Orbital that is a part of my
Low Voltage Battery System for accessory power.
InstrumentationTwo 1000 Amp & one 2000 Amp Shunts with Meters
in Parallel for measuring 4000 total amps. The
Chevelle launches in excess of 2000 battery amps
at this time. In process of installing digital
voltmeters for Battery Voltage, Motor Voltage
and Individual Battery Voltages. Also has 500
amp shunt and meter for Field Weakening Current.
Top Speed70 MPH (112 KPH)
So far just tesed on 84V.
50 mph in 1/8 mile.
Acceleration0-50mph in 13 Seconds

Have not checked for distance yet but can make
three 1/8 mile runs at track and batteries still at
12.6 volts.
Seating Capacity6 adults
Curb Weight3,600 Pounds (1,636 Kilograms)
Weighed 3600 pounds on 10/20/06,when I ran 13.08
seconds in 1/8 mile at 84 Volts.
Tires235/75/R15 Rear and 195/75/R14 Front
Conversion TimeTwo months to first road test, six months to first
Drag Race where first World Record was set.
Conversion CostAround $5000
Additional FeaturesField Weakening and direct drive automatic(no torque converter). Dual
Battery System Contactor Controller.
Drag Shocks, Air Bags.
Don't really know if I will ever get to the track but my intention is
to start at the 24 volt class in Street Conversion and Modified
Street Conversion and make my way up through the different voltage
classes in NEDRA.

Update: 05/22/06
The Chevelle Holds two World Records now in the 24V Street Conversion
and 48V Modified Conversion classes in the National Electric Drag
Racing Association.

Update: 10/06/06
Made four runs at 72 Volts in 1/8 mile. Best time was 13.39 seconds
at 48mph.

Update: 10/13/06
Made three 1/8 mile runs without charging at 72 Volts. Quickest was
13.27 seconds. This should be good for the Nedra 72V Street
Conversion Record.

Update: 10/20/06
Made four runs at 84 Volts (6 Horizon 12D2000 Batteries and one Exide
Orbital) Best two times were 13.08 & 13.17 seconds in 1/8 mile.
Should be good enough for the 96 Volt street Conversion Nedra Record.

Raced heads up race with Honda Insight. (See Timeslip)

Next up is 96 Volts.
