Vehicle2008 WAZAT Emerald
I got the idea from the El Chopper ET but had to redesign to suit my frame and I did quite a bit of custom fabrication.
MotorD&D Motor Systems, Inc. Etek-RT Permanent Magnet DC
DrivetrainDirect chain drive, 3.7:1 sprocket ratio
ControllerAlltrax 7234
Batteries4 Duralast 24MD-DL, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded
I deliberately designed to accommodate the Lead/Acid batteries - I like the low-tech aspect of the deep-cycle "floodies" - they can be rebuilt, they're widely available, and you don't cry when you have to replace them
System Voltage48 Volts
ChargerSoneil
48 volt / 3 amp output - easily does full recharge overnight - recharges 50% drain in about 4 hours
InstrumentationSpeedometer, LED Voltage Meter
Top SpeedTop speed is yet to be determined due to lack of space on the "test grounds" but all the hard numbers follow Bidwell's for similar sprocket ratio. Because of the weight, length (84-1/2 inches axle to axle), and low center of gravity the torque is channeled directly to the ground into forward motion - no tendency to "wheelie" at all -
AccelerationUsing the Progressive throttle setting - very consistent 0-30MPH in 6 seconds - awesome power!
RangeYet unknown due to lack of space on the "test grounds" but all the hard numbers follow Bidwell's for similar sprocket ratio.
Driving conditions will mainly be 45MPH stop and go city traffic over mild hills.
Seating Capacity2 adults
Curb Weight510 Pounds (231 Kilograms)
yeah, it's big and heavy, but it'll cruise with the big dogs -
TiresRear:110/18-90
Front: 100/90-19
Conversion Time400 hours
Conversion Cost$2500.00
Additional FeaturesCustom fabricated square tubing handlebars and sissy bar - Each took about 20 hours to build but produced the anti-traditional look that I was after -
I abandoned traditional curvy streamlined design in favor of the angular geometry of Stealth aircraft - chose stainless steel in place of chrome - Since it was going to be ridden along with other custom bikes and serious V-Twins, I knew it had to be the most unusual bike in the parking lot and that it really had to perform -

I call it a WAZAT because the first thing people say is "Wazat?" then they see it move and they say, "I gotta get me one of them!"
