135 kilos, I think. Well it was before I started on it!
Named the bike after the Duran Duran song "Electric Barbarella", which as far as I can tell is about a man who sees his dream product in a showroom and has to have it there and then. Since I got it I have painted it and added a sci-fi motif, making it into a survival scooter.

The radiation symbol is because the 'leccy which powers it either comes from one of our local nuclear power stations (we have two), or a turbine at the local arms factory (BAE Filton). Not that green then! :-p

Bought the bike second hand from a bloke on Ebay for £550 (about $780). Very similar to an Ego Electric scooter, but half the price (and less powerful). It's a 2008 model year. No road tax, cheap insurance, no MOT needed until around 2011.

I was a bit disappointed with the range, so I have set out to prove that manufacturers of electric mopeds do not have to lie, and one can have a moped with good mileage for an affordable price.

First I built a rubbishy range extender out of some NiMH batteries I'd had lying around for another project, but only got about an couple of miles out of it. So I bought new, more powerful batteries from UK Eco Scooters, and replaced the originals with them, then after breaking them in got around to putting the old ones in the luggage compartment. Et Walla - 28.5 miles on the first trip, and should easily do 31 or 32 miles. (I got tired and thought I was aiming for 45km not 48)

Just waiting on a top box to come in the post and I'll be all set! (and ready to put in even MORE batts!)
